Emerson is 1!

I am attempting to post this blog through email so if it's messed up that is why.

We had Emerson's 1st birthday party last weekend, and had a great time. The weather was gorgeous which was quite a contrast from the day of tornadoes before. It's hard to believe she is already a year old. Time has gone by way too quickly. Not much has changed though since she still hasn't a single tooth and refuses to even attempt to walk. I'm fine with her not walking for the time being since when she does I will have two kids going in two different directions.

She ate the whole thing, no surprise!

Today, we are headed over to Tuscaloosa to celebrate Alex's (chips nephew) 15th birthday. It's raining of course since we have plans but we will still have a great time. I'm looking forward to going to New Way (I think) to look for a book to read or another devotion book since I get chastised for looking ahead in my daily devotion. Haha.

I am super excited about going to the Extraordinary Women's conference in a couple of weeks in Birmingham. Jeremy Camp and Mark Schultz who are two of my favorite singers are going to be there. I love love love Mark Schultz. His song Love Has Come is currently my all time favorite. It's a great song. Karen Kingsbury will also be there and she's a great writer. I'm going by myself because nobody else wanted to go. Normally I wouldn't go to something like that by myself but I really want to go so I decided why not I'll go anyway. There should definitely be an interesting update after that because I'm sure I'll get lost 20 times or so given my horrible sense of direction. Hm maybe Callie should post on her blog that I need a roomie for the conference hahaha. Her blog certainly gets more readers!

I guess I am finished with this update. There are supposed to be pictures but I'm not sure they worked since I'm technically impaired. If there are enjoy them if not oh well! Haha

I'm alive..

It was brought to my attention that I've not updated my blog in 4 months. That is mostly bc I haven't had anything interesting happen lately. McKenzie ate two pennies this morning because "they were really yummy, mommy" or so she said anyway. The weather has really messed up all my weekend plans. Tonight I was going to Relay for Life to walk with a friend of mine. Of course it has rained and rained and rained so that was cancelled. I really hated for it to be cancelled because of the importance of them walking. I think it's something great they can do to honor the memory of the ones they lost. I especially hated it for the Survivors who beat the darn disease! We also planned to do the March of Dimes walk in Tuscaloosa in the morning which will probably be rained out as well. Emerson's 1st birthday was planned for Saturday afternoon and it has now been moved to Sunday. I love the rain, but really, on the ONE weekend I had things planned? Because of the rain, I did get to go to the school play at Immanuel. The kids did a great job. Then I went to a great friend's house where we talked until 1am...crazy! Sooo past my bedtime. She is awesome though and she let me talk (too much) and she was gracious enough to be my counselor for the night even though she says she's not qualified. Haha. I will ask that you say a prayer for those who have lost someone they loved. It's easy to think of them right after the loss, but even years afterwards they need encouragement and love and someone to listen. It may not be so present in your mind but they still carry the sadness and the scars. Don't take for granted being able to pick up the phone and call your Mom to talk about absolutely nothing if you want. Every girl needs to hear she's beautiful but not everyone still has that someone to tell them that. That's all my mushy stuff for tonight. It's 2:40am and it's a miracle i'm still functioning.

For my friend, you are beautiful and I love you :-)

"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting -- a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

A ton of things in one little post!

Ok so I just realized how long it had been since I updated my blog. Bro. Sammy said I don't update it often enough so I will try harder since he doesn't have anything to do. Although I'm sure Bro. Tommy could find him some work. Hehe. It is in fact December which is my favorite month bc I know it means COLD (normally) and of course Christmas...Not Xmas...CHRISTmas. Yet another one of my many pet peeves. This year will be more exciting for McKenzie since she will know what's going on. We don't dwell too much on the Santa part of Christmas. I'm told I'm a Scrooge in that aspect but oh well. She believes in Santa and knows who he is but Santa only brings one gift (a book or puzzle) each year. I think it gets a little ridiculous. I mean Santa can't haul everyone a pony or swingset. Simple thinking says for Santa to take everyone an item they must be small items, I mean come on people. Another thing that currently annoys me is on my iPhone it automatically capitalizes names. For example it automatically does Santa, even does the X in Xmas, however it does not capitalize the word god (see). God (much better). Anyway I just noticed that and it erked me..unfortunately not shocking though. Back to the Santa thing. We are doing Elf on the Shelf this year. The premise is you move the elf each night and the child finds it each morning. The elf reports to Santa on the behavior of the child. You can't touch him or he loses his magic. We will see how this goes. Our elf's name is Cornelius and I'm sure I will be updating on his trips to and fro, with McKenzie as his subject (bless him) he will be a busy little man. On to another subject. My sweet baby is sitting up now which makes me very sad. She's already 7+ months. It seems like time is going so much faster with her than when McKenzie was her age. Of course it's as equally hard to believe that McKenzie is almost 3. I only have two summers left with her before she starts school :( oh well life goes on. And a side note that popped into my head. Ladies: leggings should not take the place of your pants. FYI they are leggings when you don't wear pants guess what...you are needing and missing your flippin' pants. It's called trashy and you look half naked. Especially at church. Please wear pants. If little old ladies are refused entry over a water bottle then maybe we should be doing pant checks Mr. Super Usher. That is all on that one. On to football..Really hoping BAMA pulls off a nice win against Florida Saturday. I think I will have to do some praying after teaching McKenzie to say "Gator-Hater" oops! So for those who don't care about football. Care for that one game. The correct choice is Alabama if you don't have ties to either. I will also have to make it up to my husband since he will miss watching the game on TV bc we will be riding in the Caledonia Christmas parade. Oh yes in a wagon pulled by a John Deere tractor. Never thought I'd say that! HAHA. Monday night we will be riding in the Columbus parade on the fire truck. Oh the life of a fireman's wife...Ok another random thought. I have a new favorite commercial. Chip says I'm a little dumb but I crack up. Geico. The one where the car hits a pothole. The pothole says "oh no your tire's all flat and junk..did I do that?" then "let me get my cellular out, call you a wrecker... Oh shoot i got no phone..cause I'm a pothole..yea...k bye!" Wow it's great. If you haven't seen it you are missing out. You tube "talking pothole commercial" and watch it.

And when you are falling on your face bc it's so funny you can thank me. Haha. Ok I must go to sleep now bc I was told I needed lots of beauty sleep. I don't think it was a compliment lol. Bye!

Halloween, flu shots, and stupid people :)

First I want to say if you haven't read Callie Dunaway's blog I'd like you to go read it. She really is an inspiration which coming from me sounds yes I know a little odd. She is very sarcastic which in my opinion is a major plus for character :) Her blog is www.calliesjourney.blogspot.com Go read it!

Last I blogged we were getting ready for Halloween. We had a great time and McKenzie got a ton of candy. I have been able to convince her that the rules for trick-or-treating are you only get one piece of candy a day so it lasts until next Halloween. HAHA, oh yea I'm good..until she figures out I completely lied to her. Chip was at the Fire Academy in Jackson this week and it was a LONG week indeed. McKenzie went on her first field trip on Tuesday to the pumpkin patch with Mother's Day Out. Emerson and I went as well and we all had a great time. Thursday afternoon I took the girls to get their flu shots. We did Emerson first bc I knew McKenzie would flip out worse than Em. Emerson laughed when she got stuck, apparently the needled tickled or something, I'm still not real sure on that one. She didn't cry at all, none. Then there was McKenzie..it's so much worse when they know what's going on. She cried for about 30 seconds and then i gave her a "surprise," a latex glove, she was thrilled and the crying was over. There was a lot of debate within myself over giving them the vaccine, but in the end I decided for us that was the better choice. That was the regular influenza vaccine not the H1N1. To me, on that one, the benefits don't outweigh the risks. Later that afternoon, I got a call from a friend of mine at Ft. Hood saying they were on lockdown because of a shooting, turned on the news and just about vomited. I won't go off on a tangent because it would take up entirely too much time and I won't even mention his name because it's too soon to speculate on his nationality. I will however say that I'm glad he was not killed because Leavenworth will be much harder than death. Anyone who joins the Army knows there is a risk of being deployed. If you don't want to deploy, you don't re-up as he did, and you don't kill fellow soldiers, you GET OUT. He could have had an honorable discharge, but he chose an inevitable death sentence. He didn't just shoot any soldiers, he shot soldiers that were getting medical clearance to deploy to Afghanistan and fulfill their duty..Coward. I am also hearing now about a shooting in Orlando involving an ex-coworker. Why do people think they have to right to take another's life? Ok so off of that now.. Tomorrow we have quite a busy day. We are going back to the pumpkin patch from 10-12 with the church. We then have a birthday party that we are going to try to attend at 1:00. After that we have my sunday school fall festival from 4-6. All that is great and good, but McKenzie will have to have a nap somewhere in all of the activity so the birthday party we might not make. I also must add that Bro. Sammy left a message on my previous post which means he read my blog which means..he..blogs?? What?! I must say I am very impressed! What's next texting?? It could be! I now have two children screaming; one needs a nap and the other needs to eat..what's new. Emerson weighed 16lbs at her doctor's appt and is 26 inches long. She will be 7 months next week..SO hard to believe..it has gone by way too fast :(

Long Time No Blog!

I decided to FINALLY update this though nobody probably reads it. I wouldn't, I'm pretty boring. The last time I was on here I think I was like 17 weeks pregnant with Emerson and we didn't know what she was. She is a girl. Oddly enough not much has changed in the last year with us except that Emerson is now on the outside. I prefer it that way. Emerson is 6 months and McKenzie is 2 and a half. I just had my 25th birthday and it was a great one. Chip surprised (hehe) me with tickets to go see Rick and Bubba and he took me to lunch in Birmingham..we had a great time with just us and no kids for a change. We came back and then I went to the E-Women's conference in Tupelo on Friday. Mandisa and Chonda Pierce were great. Saturday we saw Stormie Omartian and Angela Thomas. Angela Thomas was great, I love her! Stormie Omartian..well..she better stick to writing..bless her. Karen Kingsbury was that afternoon but I left at lunch to go to the BAMA game. Apparently Karen Kingsbury said/did the same thing she did last year. That's a no-go. Let's try and come up with some new material Karen..We went to the Alabama game Saturday afternoon which was almost a disaster. We won. We shouldn't have won and I don't really think we did. We might have had more points at the end of the game but in every other way the Tide lost that game. Good thing we have an off week. Believe it or not we came home and watched the State/Florida game and..wait for it...wait for it..cheered..for..STATE! I know..I couldn't believe it either. Apparenlty it didn't matter because State lost but they played better than Alabama did..I might covert..ok not but.. So..I went to the class at Church 5 Conversations You Must Have with Your Daughter and it was the conversation about sex and let's just say I am NOT looking forward to that conversation. You would think with her just being almost 3 I would have many years before that but the way things are now unfortunately that's not the case. I'm just hoping she gets out of Elementary school before she even hears that word..Yikes! Not much going on Today. Chip is working on the ambulance until 5 and are recovering from a busy weekend. We are taking the kids to the Pumpkin Patch at some point this week. We are going with the church on Nov.7 but we want to go do pictures beforehand. We are excited about the Halloween get together this weekend. McKenzie is going to be a cat and I don't know what Emerson will be just yet. Emerson has her shots on Friday..curious to see how much she weighs now. Now on to getting lunch ready.. :)

17 week Appt

Ok so I just got back from my dr's appt. They did the ultrasound and she could tell what it was so she put it in an envelope for us. Everything was relatively good..the baby is measuring smaller than it should at this point but that's because of me having IUGR..i had the same problems with McKenzie. So right now the kid is 4 inches long and should be about 7 or 8..another shrimp I suspect. Tonight we have our sunday school christmas party/girls night out which I'm pretty excited about..yea so I guess that's it..
