Halloween, flu shots, and stupid people :)

First I want to say if you haven't read Callie Dunaway's blog I'd like you to go read it. She really is an inspiration which coming from me sounds yes I know a little odd. She is very sarcastic which in my opinion is a major plus for character :) Her blog is www.calliesjourney.blogspot.com Go read it!

Last I blogged we were getting ready for Halloween. We had a great time and McKenzie got a ton of candy. I have been able to convince her that the rules for trick-or-treating are you only get one piece of candy a day so it lasts until next Halloween. HAHA, oh yea I'm good..until she figures out I completely lied to her. Chip was at the Fire Academy in Jackson this week and it was a LONG week indeed. McKenzie went on her first field trip on Tuesday to the pumpkin patch with Mother's Day Out. Emerson and I went as well and we all had a great time. Thursday afternoon I took the girls to get their flu shots. We did Emerson first bc I knew McKenzie would flip out worse than Em. Emerson laughed when she got stuck, apparently the needled tickled or something, I'm still not real sure on that one. She didn't cry at all, none. Then there was McKenzie..it's so much worse when they know what's going on. She cried for about 30 seconds and then i gave her a "surprise," a latex glove, she was thrilled and the crying was over. There was a lot of debate within myself over giving them the vaccine, but in the end I decided for us that was the better choice. That was the regular influenza vaccine not the H1N1. To me, on that one, the benefits don't outweigh the risks. Later that afternoon, I got a call from a friend of mine at Ft. Hood saying they were on lockdown because of a shooting, turned on the news and just about vomited. I won't go off on a tangent because it would take up entirely too much time and I won't even mention his name because it's too soon to speculate on his nationality. I will however say that I'm glad he was not killed because Leavenworth will be much harder than death. Anyone who joins the Army knows there is a risk of being deployed. If you don't want to deploy, you don't re-up as he did, and you don't kill fellow soldiers, you GET OUT. He could have had an honorable discharge, but he chose an inevitable death sentence. He didn't just shoot any soldiers, he shot soldiers that were getting medical clearance to deploy to Afghanistan and fulfill their duty..Coward. I am also hearing now about a shooting in Orlando involving an ex-coworker. Why do people think they have to right to take another's life? Ok so off of that now.. Tomorrow we have quite a busy day. We are going back to the pumpkin patch from 10-12 with the church. We then have a birthday party that we are going to try to attend at 1:00. After that we have my sunday school fall festival from 4-6. All that is great and good, but McKenzie will have to have a nap somewhere in all of the activity so the birthday party we might not make. I also must add that Bro. Sammy left a message on my previous post which means he read my blog which means..he..blogs?? What?! I must say I am very impressed! What's next texting?? It could be! I now have two children screaming; one needs a nap and the other needs to eat..what's new. Emerson weighed 16lbs at her doctor's appt and is 26 inches long. She will be 7 months next week..SO hard to believe..it has gone by way too fast :(
